Demystifying Excel – no previous knowledge required

For novice Excel users.  You will learn Excel basics which will enable you to create and understand uncomplicated Excel workbooks.

By attending this course you will learn how to:

  • customise the Quick Access Toolbar
  • enter data and create simple formulas, including AutoSum
  • add, delete, name, move, copy, colour code, and reference worksheets
  • format your worksheet (including: numbers, dates, merge cells, use text wrap)
  • apply Absolute cell referencing (a must for any Excel user)
  • name cell ranges
  • use and apply Excel’s autofill features

Data validation, conditional formatting, auditing and tables

For people who have  mastered the  contents of the Demystifying Excel course, or are  regular users of Excel.

Data validation in Excel ensures users enter certain values into a cell, thereby reducing the likelihood of errors and increasing output.

Conditional formatting enables you to quickly highlight important information in a spreadsheet depending on the value of the cell.  For example, it enables you to highlight products or /salespeople that are under or over performing.

The Auditing tool in Excel is really cool and very underused.  It enables you to quickly identify which cells are included in your formulas.

By attending this course you will learn how to:

  • create data validation rules
  • create and modify a variety of different list types (drop-downs with static & dynamic values, range of cells, and reusable series)
  • create and apply conditional formatting
  • use the Auditing tool to trace precedents and dependents
  • use tables effectively to save you time and be more productive

Logical and Lookup functions along with What-If analysis

For people who have  mastered the  contents of the Demystifying Excel course, or are  regular users of Excel.

Logical functions are useful for building formulas based on certain criteria that you create.

The VLookUp and HLookUp functions are part of a powerful group of functions that can return values by looking them up in data tables.

What-IF analysis tool enables you to experiment and answer questions of your data, even when the data is incomplete.

By attending this course, you will learn how to:

  • create and apply a variety of logical functions (IF, AND, OR, SUMIF, COUNTIF,)
  • create and use the VLookUp & HLookUp functions
  • use the what-if analysis tool to help you experiment and answer questions (including Goal seek function)

Introduction to Pivot Tables
